The Delta

One of the earliest styles of blues music, Delta Blues captured life in the poverty stricken Mississippi Delta.  From introspective and soulful to passionate and fiery, the music that originated in the late 1920s stretched from Memphis to Vicksburg – from the Mississippi River to the Yazoo and though it wound its way through the nation, branching off into Chicago Blues and Detroit Blues, there’s nothing like music from the Delta.  Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Hound Dog Taylor and Muddy Waters all weave their tales about home, life, the land and the poverty.  They are good stories, bad stories, broken-hearted stories, but most of all, they’re real.  Delta artists live their songs.  And now, so can you.  All the music is right here on The Delta, in high definition.  Song after song, The Delta takes you on a blues ride through history to a time when hard working men and women lived hand to mouth, day to day.  Give it a listen.  You just might find you have a lot in common with The Delta.
