The Stars Look Very Different Today: A Unique Tribute to David Bowie

It’s been just over a year, but the world is still mourning the loss of our own Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie. To honor his lasting impact, the UK’s Royal Mail issued a set of 10 Bowie-themed stamps this month, featuring 4 live shots and 6 album covers.

The stamps, which went on sale yesterday (March 14), are available both online and at post offices across the UK.

Now that the stamps are available, an awesome image has surfaced of a Starman waiting in the sky—I mean, stratosphere.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Royal Mail sent 52 sets of the stamps on helium balloons into the stratosphere, an act that was inspired by Bowie’s role in the ’76 movie The Man Who Fell to Earth. Considering the movie's title, it's only appropriate that once the balloons popped, the stamps fell to Earth. For the fans who correctly guess the location of the landed stamps, they’ll have the chance to win a set for themselves.
