Last night (5/24) on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Paul Simon performed his song “Questions For The Angels” alongside jazz and folk guitarist Bill Frisell. The song, featured on Simon’s 2011 album So Beautiful Or So What, is slow and beautiful, and you can hear it played for the first time live below.

During his interview on The Late Show, Simon proves that maybe distance doesn’t make the heart grow fonder—even after all these years, "The 59th Street Bridge Song" doesn’t leave him feelin’ groovy.

In any case, he does have a lot to look forward to. He starts his tour June 1 (all profits will go to E.O. Wilson’s biodiversity program), and he’s working on a new album where he’ll revisit previously released songs to re-record—his way of making good songs better.

Sigh. An artist is always his or her own toughest critic. Hear the full interview below!

It’s doubtful that we’ll see a "59th Street Bridge Song" remake, but we’re excited to see what he comes up with regardless.
